pathVu had a vision to build a global map of sidewalks and pathways to improve accessibility, walkability and safety for all pedestrians – of all abilities.
With a mix of pathVu’s engineering-grade hardware and Satina’s technical experience with ESRI ArcGIS development, pathVu is developing a worldwide sidewalk network that is improving the happiness, health and safety of every community.
pathVu Navigation is a real-time pedestrian navigation app that improves accessibility and walkability, allowing users to specify their custom route preferences. Users can also submit reports about pathway obstacles allowing others to avoid them.
Satina’s vast industry knowledge, technical expertise and certified Esri ArcGIS developers made them the ideal candidate to perform pathVu custom mobile app development.
ESRI ArcGIS Mobile App Development
pathVu reached out to Satina for assistance with iOS and Android development support to ensure all their backend features could be incorporated into the mobile app. Another objective was to improve precision of Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation and enhance mapping features that allow users to use the app as their main source for everyday navigation.
pathVu’s goal was to use the mobile app to support pedestrians of all disabilities with accessibility support. One of the most common issues pedestrians with disabilities face is the lack of safe, wheelchair-accessible pathways. pathVu addressed this with an index grading scale that allows users to know where it’s safe to cross and informs cities of where they are failing to meet quality standards for their citizens.
The requirements were to create, enhance and fix certain aspects of the current application and to also make sure the code was up to standards and followed best practices.
This application language was written in Swift for iOS. Satina’s ESRI ArcGIS developers followed the same structure pathVu had started and developed on the iOS 9.0 SDK using XCODE 9.4 IDE in the Mac Operating System 10.12.6. Satina also worked on the Android Mobile App version to bring it up to speed in terms of readiness to launch and fixed current bugs. Satina ESRI developers integrated the same functionality into the Android platform as they did in iOS.
Client was able to add/subtract additional developers when they reached a certain stage in development.
Cost was affordable and very much in-line with a small businesses budget.
The project was completed within the timeframe agreed upon.
